Rail Replacement Management 

Overview of Project 

In 1994, WCL Management Services was awarded provision of planned and emergency rail replacement coach services to support NSW Trainlink between Melbourne and Sydney. WCLMS was required of the provision of coach services from Wangaratta, Albury and Wagga Wagga to support XPT train services in the event of service disruption. Throughout the contact period, the rail replacement increased to support Melbourne operations such as capacity/demand for these services. 

Key Statistics

  • Line occupations ranging from single day - 60 continuous days 

  • Peak vehicle requirements - +40 for single occupations 

  • Peak vehicle requirements of 1,800 planned & emergency vehicles per annum (2011)
